The Farmaesthetics Shed featured on The Rhode Show

In case you missed it- we were on The Rhode Show!

The Rhode Show’s Ashley Earling interviewed Lela, Farmaesthetics Creative Director, on our brand beginnings and practices, how The Shed came to be, and some of her favorite products!

The Farmaesthetics Shed is an open-air, herbal oasis where you are welcome to test and try a curated collection of Farmaesthetics award-winning green beauty products. Located at one of our favorite Rhode Island destinations- Sweet Berry Farm.

Read The Interview:

Ashley: One of the coolest parts about Sweet Berry Farm is the awesome collaboration that they have with Farmaesthetics. We have Lela, who is the creative director of the brand here to tell us all about it! Good morning! All right, first, we have a lot to talk about, ok, so let me start with what is Farmaesthetics? I know you have such a huge following here and outside of the state as well, but for those who maybe aren’t familiar, tell us more about the brand.”

Lela: “Farmaesthetics is an all-natural, fine herbal skincare brand based right here in Newport, Rhode Island. We’ve got beautiful skincare products for the face and body, for men and women, and we work with family farms across the country to support small farmers and to get the most top quality herbs, oils, flowers and grains possible to make our products.”

Ashley: “This collaboration that you have here with Sweet Berry Farm is just the coolest thing that I think you have going. So, we’re in the shed right now. Tell us more about the shed that we’re in.”

Lela: “This is not just any shed. It was a tool shed, but I had a vision. I came on during 2020 as Creative Director, and we had a shop for 13 years and I wanted to do something fresh. So I thought let’s put the farm back in Farmaesthetics and let’s do a pop up! Sweet Berry started their business at the same time that we started our business in 1999, there was just a little tent here and we were a farm stand down the street. So, I thought it would be amazing to collaborate and to build out one of their sheds on the property and work together here.”

Ashley: “It’s just such a great idea. It is the sweetest little shed, I could spend all day here. But we do want to talk about some of your products. We’re getting to see some right now, and I’ve had you go ahead and pull a few. What did you pull for us today?”

Lela: “So I pulled my top 3 favorite products right now, but they’re always alternating  because each one is fantastic. Let’s start with the Fine Herbal Cleanser, which is your daily face wash morning and night. It smells amazing and is extremely clean. I’ve used it my whole life- from childhood, through teen years, into my 30’s. It’s really been there supporting me and giving me clean skin. The next is Midnight Honey Oil, which is just the most delicious scent. It smells so rich and deep like honey, it makes your skin glow and it’s ultra hydrating. And then, lastly my favorite product for today is the Marigold Hyaluronic Acid Serum. We were having a tough time finding a formulation that was natural, it took a while to figure out- but we finally did it and it’s 100% natural. You can put it all over your face and your neck, you can layer it with your moisturizer, and you’ll notice a difference in your skin texture that first week. It will smooth out your fine lines and plump up your skin and make you look glorious.”

Ashley: I’ll be going home with that today. I’ll be pulling out my credit card! All jokes aside, I love that you really work with everything very natural for the products because it’s hard to find that in products that are on the mass market. It is so important, you know, to try to find things that are clean and good for you, and it’s really a difficult thing to know what is and what is not good for you.”

Lela: “We make it really easy to know what is and is not good for you, because we put our ingredient list on the back. It is not in latin, you can read it, you know what the ingredients are and to even further that-  on our website, we have an ingredient library list so you can actually check out each ingredient, see what it derives from what it’s used for and why we use it.”

Ashley: “And for people who can’t come out to The Shed, do you sell online? Can you be found easily?”

Lela: “We sell online on our website, and here at The Shed we have just a small selection of our favorite products, but we have a very large line. We’re at Castle Hill and in the spa there, The Retreat is our spot. We’re all over the place, from small boutiques to the Four Seasons in Los Angeles. We have a very wide footprint.”

Ashley: “That’s amazing. I’m so excited for you and for the brand, and we love to see local brands just doing great things. This is definitely something you want to check out. I can promise you, if you’re anything like me, you can make a whole day out of being here at Sweet Berry Farm! Make your way over here and pick out some wonderful skin care. So add this to your summer list if you haven’t already!”
